Registration is now open for AED's 2012 conference for Archdeacons and Directors of Diaconal Formation.
This year, the conference will be held at the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute outside Baltimore, Maryland.
You may register for the conference itself online
or you may print and send this form via snail mail.
If at all possible, it's much easier for us online.
You need to handle your room registration on your own. It will be important for you to follow the directions below in order
to secure our special rate. The room rate is good for a few days before and after the conference. We won't be handling any of the
accommodations or roommate assignments. Repeat, you are on your own.
The block of guest rooms will be held for your exclusive use up to February 22 at the rate of $135 +tax per room per night,
single, and $190 +tax, double. Guest room reservations are to be made by individually calling 1-866-900-3517 and requesting
the Association for Episcopal Deacons group rate.
For more information, see the Conference brochure and the Institute web site.
The Seven
The Association for Episcopal Deacons is pleased to announce that "The Seven" began the last week of September
with two introductory teleconference calls.
"The Seven" is coordinated by Deacon Kyle Pedersen of the Diocese of Connecticut, with the support of Deacon Susanne
Watson Epting, Executive Director of the Association for Episcopal Deacons.
This new and exciting mentored experience in diaconal ministry for young adults includes eight participants
from the dioceses of Connecticut, Iowa, and Olympia. The participating women and men range in age from 18-37
and have a variety of life, educational, work, and ministry experiences.

On Engaging the Diakonia of All Believers
We all know and love older people in our lives.
As we think about the diakonia of all believers, here is a
Lenten resource on
elder abuse from the Older Adult Ministries Task Force to begin fruitful discussions in our congregations and communities.
From the Office of Native American Ministries comes
Seeking God's Justice for All, the third part of an ongoing Lifelong
Faith Formation resource which responds to the 2009 General Convention resolution D035 in which the
Episcopal Church repudiated and renounced the "Doctrine of Discovery," a set of legal and
ecclesiastical documents and policies which gave the full blessing and sanction of the Church
to the colonizing dispossession (genocide) of the Indigenous peoples and lands of the
Americas.
While we don't all know people personally who are indigenous to this country, we do have a sense of history.
Our sisters and brothers from many tribes have asked us consider this study resource during Lent.
